Edmonton boasts the longest stretch of urban parkland in North America, over 111 sq. km including neighbourhood parks.  There are more than 70 golf courses in the Metropolitan area.

Because of the volume of festivals Edmonton hosts throughout the year, it is known as the 'Festival City'. Among these are Edmonton International Fringe Festival (second largest of it's kind in the world), River City Shakespeare Festival, Animethon, Capital EX (formerly Klondike Days), Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Cariwest, Edmonton International Film Festival, and Canadian Finals Rodeo.

The city, with a population of over one million, is home to the largest mall in the world, West Edmonton Mall (WEM).  Alberta's number one tourist attraction, WEM has over 800 stores and over 100 eateries and nine world-class attractions.
