Jack Lockerbie, a Collingwood, Ont. native, comes to Edmonton, Alta. in search of his dream to found and build his own plumbing company.

Harry Hole, a young plumber from London, England, travels to Edmonton and forms a partnership with Jack Lockerbie.

Jack Lockerbie, Harry Hole, and Jack's brother, Doug, incorporate J.A. Lockerbie Limited.

1919

Jack Lockerbie passes away.

Doug Lockerbie and Harry Hole form a new partnership and rename the company Lockerbie & Hole.

Doug Lockerbie & Harry Hole incorporate Lockerbie & Hole Ltd. in Edmonton, Alta.

Lockerbie & Hole's geographical presence expands with the opening of the Vancouver and Calgary offices.

1948

The first oil refinery in the Edmonton area, owned by Imperial Oil, opens for business in Leduc, signifying the beginning of Alberta's oil boom.

Lockerbie & Hole Western Ltd. is created, and the company's management group expands to include Bob Hole, Harry Hole Jr., Ralph Hole, Jim Hole and Doug Lockerbie's son-in-law, George Shipley.

1961

1961

High-rise office construction takes off in Western Canada. Over the next decade, Lockerbie & Hole is involved in the construction of almost all of the high-rise office buildings erected in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

In addition to providing mechanical contracting services, Lockerbie & Hole begins providing electrical and instrumentation services.

Lockerbie & Hole Company Ltd. is formed and led by Jim Hole and J.D. Hole, the eldest grandson of Harry Sr.

1992

1992

Gerorge Shipley retires ownership of the company leaving the Hole family as sole shareholders. Lockerbie & Hole Contracting Ltd. is created and led by J.D. Hole, H.B. Hole (son of Ralph Hole), and Jack Hole (son of Jim Hole).

1999

Lockerbie & Hole's Victoria office opens along with construction of the Royal Jubilee Hospital Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

2000

Lockerbie & Hole Inc. acquires Industra Service Corporation.

Founded in 1975, Industra provided industrial owners with a non-OEM alternative to boiler maintenance repair and retrofits. The boiler service company, which originated in Vancouver, B.C., was comprised of tube bending, insulation and asbestos abatement, and fireproofing divisions. After expanding operations to Edmonton, Alta., Industra became one of the larger mechanical contractors and fabricators in Western Canada.

Lockerbie & Hole Inc. acquires Adam Clark Company Ltd.

Adam Clark, a young Scottish immigrant, established the plumbing and gas fitting business in Hamilton, Ont. in the mid 1870s. After four generations of Clark family ownership, in 1981 the business became employee-owned.

Now known as Lockerbie & Hole Eastern, the company provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and fabrication services to the Automotive, Steel, Petro-Chemical, Mining, Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas, and Food and Beverage Industries.

2002

Lockerbie & Hole builds a new home

Early in 2002, the year of its 104th birthday, Lockerbie & Hole further expanded its operations by building a massive new manufacturing facility in Strathcona County, just outside of the City of Edmonton.

The 76,000 square foot facility boasts office space, a fabrication facility and modular yard, fives cranes, multiple welding bays, state of the art equipment and access to road, rail and air traffic.

2007

Lockerbie & Hole goes public

After 109 years as a private and subsequently employee-owned company, Lockerbie & Hole took the plunge into the public sector. On Aug. 8, 2007, Lockerbie & Hole began trading on the TSX under the ticker symbol LH.
